Existing authorized Accommodation available in different jails
to lodge prisoners and population of prisoners as on 31.8.2005
below. Total
authorized capacity of Jails in H.P. is 972. The overcrowding in
some jails is mainly due to ongoing repairs etc. at Sub Jail
Shimla and District Jail Dharmsala.
